Over the last couple of months, I designed a series of DIY desktop organizers made out of cork. I’m always trying to find ways to improve the work space. Most people work 40 hours a week; that’s 40 hours at a desk, well for most of us. Since you’re at your desk at least 5 days a week, all day long, it’s so important to make your work space look and feel good and also be tidy and organized. Not only will doing this help boost your productivity but it will also improve your overall well being.
From my experience, DIYs can be a little intimidating, especially when they look complicated. These DIYs are so easy to make and don’t involve any hammers, nails or drills, just a little glue. I wanted to create products that could be made in 30 minutes or less. I bought cork tiles from Michael’s, which comes in sheets of four. Being the designer that I am, I wanted to challenge myself and come up with four designs that used only one sheet per design. I love working with cork! It’s not only a 100% natural material that’s renewable but it’s also so easy to work with.
The DIY Cork Desktop Organizer Collection is a series of four easy to make DIYs. There’s the Pineapple Desktop Cork Board , the Desktop Organizer, the House Shaped Desktop Organizer, and the Letter Organizer. Each of these DIY posts have templates, tools needed, and visual as well as written instructions. They’re designed so you can personalize them by adding color, patterns and detailing. Personally, I like to keep mine “au naturel”!
Pin your reminders, inspirations and notes to the cork boards. Organize your letters, store pens, scissors and other stationery supplies such as paper clips, note pads and tape. Your desktop and productivity will forever be changed.
Think you’ll give these DIY a try? Would love to see how you style and organize yours!
